What to expect during remodeling project at your house

What can I, as a homeowner, expect to do while a remodeling project is being done at my house?

Ask questions, ask questions, ask questions. If something doesn’t look right or you don’t remember “that” being part of the project – ask your contractor. Your contractor will appreciate hearing right away if something is not to your satisfaction.

Patience can go a long way. There will be a lot of noise, dust and dirt in your home no matter how well the contractor cleans up after themselves. It is very likely that your contractor will be coming and going, so make it easy for them to come and go. Leaving a key or plan to have someone home during the day to be sure the door is unlocked will help thing run smoothly. If you are having your only bathroom remodeled make arrangements to have your toilet reset at the end of each day. If you are having your kitchen remodeled plan ahead and have ready made food to choose from. Before construction begins you may want to arrange with your contractor to move your refrigerator to another location away from the construction zone for more easy access during the day.
