Corvus Construction hosted their annual park cleanup for 2018 at Lowell Riverfront Trail Park on Saturday, August 11 in Snohomish. The park is on the banks of the Snohomish River, and the project they took on was ambitious and went above and beyond their usual clean-up efforts.

About 30 people showed for the workday along with Corvus owners and founders Denis and Brenda Vladyko and their family. This was the sixth annual park clean-up event to show how committed Corvus Construction is to the local community where they work, live, and serve.

The larger part of the day was spent putting all their construction expertise to work building a retaining wall at Lowell Riverfront Trail Park. During Seattle’s rainy months, the river swells and the trails tend to flood. Building this retaining wall would keep the trail usable.

Brenda and Denis met with Everett Parks and Recreation to decide which park would benefit the most from their efforts. The Corvus Construction team, family, clients, and locals worked together at the riverfront park on the retaining wall and other projects in August.

The team dug and leveled a trench then installed decorative cinder blocks to hold back the water from flooding the trail. The blocks were filled in with gravel to keep them in place and make a beautiful and durable wall to protect the park’s walkways.

It was a busy day with several projects going at once and all hands on deck to improve the park and make it more enjoyable and usable for the community. The group also picked up trash and took care of some much-needed weeding. One all the hard work was done, it was time for some fun.

As always, kids were welcome and helped get the job done and then enjoyed some fun activities and the chance to get some prizes. Denis Vladyko cranked up the barbecue grill and made a delicious lunch for all their friends, family, local and client volunteers.

Everyone got a Corvus Construction yellow t-shirt, but these were a little dirty by the end of the day from everyone’s hard work. Some of the hard-working kids got the chance to earn some cool prizes including gift cards to iFLY indoor skydiving, movie tickets, and TCBY gift cards.

It was a day of hard work, good friends, and a job well done. This Lowell Riverfront Trail park project will ensure flood-free trails for the community, so go by and check them out if you’re in Everett.
